The place is small and intimate. The service is like being at your Italian aunts house for dinner. The service was so personal I felt part Of a family there. The food was excellent with a topper or Lemon Cello after dinner. I will be back again and again. You must try it. I do not believe you could be disappointed. Ciao!

Love this little place. Very small which works because it seems like not many people know about this gem. Food is good - very old style Italian with a flair on certain dishes. The chef and his wife are the owners. She is charming, comes to each table to greet and then again when your meal arrives to check if you are happy and satisfied! People need to expand their horizons and visit this restaurant to enjoy great food and old world Italian hospitality with some Jimmy Roselli on the sound system!

A lot of my friends have gone here and said great things about the place. Being a big foodie with a food blog I write I was excited to try this place. It was six pm and still early so I thought we would maybe not have a huge wait. It's a small place but there were only two people sitting there. Lots of available tables and looked like a nice bar in the back. I was not there long enough to see though since I was told we could not eat there if we didnt have a reservation. I will not be returning which is a shame since I live in the neighborhood. Oh well. Lots of other places to eat around here.

I can't believe that I've driven by this place 1000 times and never stopped in. This place is a gem! Authentic, fresh, made to order Italian food. You feel as though you're having dinner at Nonna's house. I love it! I had the veal and my boyfriend had a seafood dish - both were fantastic! The owners are very warm and welcoming. Wait staff was great too. I have nothing but praise for this place. Definitely going back! FYI - Reservations are required.

Everything that an Italian restaurant should be. I had been past this place hundreds of times without giving it a second thought, until a friend began recounting the multiple evenings of delicious food they had experienced here. Shockingly, my first time dining hear lived up to my friend's billing. I had the gnocchi - generally a simple, not overly memorable dish. I can't speak highly enough about how this tasted. The portion was giant, and i was especially thankful as it meant i got to experience that taste again the day after. The owners (husband and wife) came out and chatted with us, and generally made us feel like we were guests in a home. An amazing experience.

Celebrating our parents 53rd wedding anniversary, Bruni & Luciano gave us a great meal with no pretense. As a party of 12, we tried several different appetizers. The fried calamari were excellent. A variety of pasta dishes & meat entrees were also ordered . Everything looked great & my veal special was cooked perfectly. Overall, I would refer Posillipo's to anyone tired of Federal Hill Italian food. Luciano's cooking is much more authentic & the prices are fairer.

Lovely hidden Italian gem in a town that's full of decent Italian restaurants. Food is top notch, the wait staff and the owner(s) are extremely friendly and attentive and the decor really hits my kitschy heart. It's as comfortable as what grandma's place should have been and it's a place to gather with family and friends and expect to be relaxing around the table for a long time. Highly recommended!!

Came here for Valentine's this year. This restaurant is very nondescript from the outside, and the inside looks like someone's wood-paneled basement. Maybe it was the holiday crowd, but the food came out slow and the service was pretty amateur, but overall my experience was okay. I ended up filling myself with bread waiting for the appetizer, which came out late and with our entree. I tried one of the brucchiettas, but the bread was soggy. I think if the plate came out when it was supposed to, it would have tasted better. For my entree I ordered the scrod, which was yummy but on the salty side. After we ate, they gave us a couple lemoncello shots. Most of the other patrons had come and gone by the time we were done eating. They realized they'd sort of messed up our table experience, so the hostess took off the appetizer from the bill, which I thought was fair. The Hostess was one redeeming quality of this restaurant. She was very nice and personable. And she didn't want me to leave without my rose. LOL. I might try this place again on another night, to give it a more fair review. Overall, only semi impressed. We'll see.

Walk thru the doors and you'll think you're back in the early 60s. Forget fancy decor, you're in your family's Italian restaurant back in the old Ratpack days! The service is superb and super friendly. The chef's wife came out to visit each table and took time with everyone, not just the usually "how was your meal, ok buh-bye". The portions are HUGE. I had the Spaghetti Pescatore and it was enough for 3 meals, chock full of clams, shrimp, scallops and calamari. Homemade limoncello shots come complimentary with the check. Definitely a new favorite!

This is where the Italians go to eat... Including mom. Lolol Authentic Amazing food, tons of specials all the time. Friendly staff, servers and staff all seem to be family. Everyone always had a big welcoming smile. They even give you lemoncello after your meal! The only cons are: 1-theres no parking and 2-the food takes awhile to come out.

Where has this amazing place been? Went here last night for a family party. It was my first time and certainly won't be the last. We were seated in a small private room that easily accommodated our 30 person party. The owner immediately greeted everyone who arrived, the servers were prompt on drink orders, and then plate after plate of delicious Italian food began arriving at our tables. The arrival of the various courses and dishes were perfectly paced making for a very family dinner type feel. The chicken Marsala was so out of this world, I couldn't believe what I was tasting. Everyone left happy, smiling, and full. This place cannot be overlooked if you're planning a genuine Italian family event. Bonus smiles go their way for allowing us to come a bit early and add a few small decorations!

A little gem. Go when you are not in a hurry, very friendly and attentive service, they are not super fast and that is part of the charm. Relax, get a carafe of chianti, enjoy the bread and spiced oil (!), have some appetizers, savor the courses. Lovely mozzarella salad, simple but perfectly flavored. Rosemary charbroiled steak...yum!

Came here with a party of 12 for dinner. Although I lived down the street from this place, never came until last week based on the party organizer's recommendation and rave reviews. The place is a bit small and unassuming - strange setup but can be cozy for a smaller party or date night. The owner of the restaurant was very kind and very personable - came over several times to check on us and cracked a few jokes. We got there for a 7pm reservation and was not served our entrees until 9pm. I understand that this was a large party but a 2 hour wait for dinner!? We did have a few appetizers but were starving. I ordered the Chicken Parm - my usual Italian fare to judge a restaurant by. The portion was much smaller than what I've gotten at other places - it was pounded nice and thin. The sauce and penne were ok but nothing to write home about. If I had to wait 2 hours for Chicken Parm, it should've been the best I've ever have! Although not a terrible experience, I most likely will not be returning. It's a shame - the staff and owner were very nice but the food is what draws you into any place.

The owners really care about their customers and make everyone feel very welcome. The service is top notch. The restaurant is very intimate without feeling overcrowded. It's a good sized menu and they are willing to make any accommodation or addition.

The food here was excellent with many inventive specials the night we went. Everything is prepared to order and the quality of the food is above average. The decor and ambiance was nothing to speak of, but the food does the talking here. Excellent waitstaff and very helpful. Prices were moderate and all the dinners come w/ a salad and potato and vegetable. I lived in North providence for years and never gave this place a second thought and just tried it for the first time this past weekend. I regret not trying it sooner!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
